From the Intercollegiate Rowing Association:
The 1922 Trophy is a silver bowl commemorating the official origin of men’s intercollegiate lightweight rowing in 1922 and is presented to the winner of the IRA men’s varsity lightweight eight (MVL8). This lightweight event was added to the IRA in 1987 but Navy lightweight crew did not begin competing in the event until 1994. Navy won The 1922 Trophy in 2004 and was second in the event in 2002 and 2008.
